Cancer Immunology

In 2013, Dr. Vijayanand teamed up with Professor Christian Ottensmeier at the Cancer Center, University of Southampton, UK, to set up a large patient-centered cancer immunology program. Our work utilizing genomics tools to study T lymphocytes present in cancer tissue has revealed an important role for tissue resident memory cells in lung cancer survival outcomes (Nature Immunology, Ganesan et al 2017).

About La Jolla Institute

The La Jolla Institute for Immunology is dedicated to understanding the intricacies and power of the immune system so that we may apply that knowledge to promote human health and prevent a wide range of diseases. Since its founding in 1988 as an independent, nonprofit research organization, the Institute has made numerous advances leading toward its goal: life without disease.
